About

I started this website after realising how dependent I am on others to survive. I couldn’t cook, let alone grow my own food, and so I set about figuring out how to take care of myself, and remove my reliance on others.

I don’t just mean scrounging from parents either, if supermarkets closed tomorrow, how will you be able to take care of yourself?

The original idea was to find out how to grow things, and cook things, and simplify it best I can, and write it down. At the time of writing this message though, I’m seeing more and more that it isn’t just food that is the issue. I rely on others for pretty much everything else. Whatever I need, I tend to buy, and this makes me think that I need money to live. When I realised this, I was horrified! I don’t believe that money is what allows you to live your life, and I wanted to get away from the money/life exchange system as much as possible.

While I have a vegetable patch growing, and I’m cooking my own food, I’m going to start learning a few other things on the way. Firstly, I’m going to stop buying things unless I really really need to, and it will of a huge benefit to my life. Secondly, I’m going to stop throwing out things just because they are broken or no longer as desirable as when I first bought them. I’m going to attempt to at least fix these things, or find a permanent replacement for them.

I’m starting on a journey, taking myself “off the grid” step by step, until I’m living without a dependence on money.

Whether it’s making my own soap, or using renewable (and free) sources of electricity, I’m going to stop exchanging my cash for a right to live!
