make your own apple cake
Want a way of using those nice apples you’ve been growing? How about a tutorial on how to make your own apple cake? Let’s begin…
What you’ll need:
Salt
1 teaspoon baking power
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups flour, plus a little extra
2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup sugar, plus a little extra
3 eggs
4 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples
(Ice Cream for serving – optional)
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine a pinch of salt, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and flour in a large bowl. Use a mixer to cream together the butter and sugar. Then add the eggs, one at a time to the butter/sugar mixture, beating after each addition. Once the mixture is smooth, stir in the dry ingredients by hand, until just combined, do not beat. Then add the apples.
Grease and flour a 9- or 10- inch springform or tube pan and add the batter. Once in the pan, sprinkle the top with as little or much sugar as you prefer. Bake until a toothpick in the center comes out clean, usually around 45 minutes or so, but sometimes longer.
Once it is finished baking, it is best to cool on a rack for a few minutes before removing it from the pan. Serve with ice cream.
Done! Mmmmmmmmm!
